Vijayakanth had arrived at the Chennai airport in a wheelchair and in a video, he can be seen with a face cover as his assistants had taken him into the terminal. 

According to reports, Vijayakanth has been admitted to the MIOT Hospital at 3 am on Wednesday after he complained of breathing difficulties.

DMDK Treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth had expressed disappointment and impatience on why the ADMK is yet to begin seat-sharing talks despite being only around three months for elections. 

In its press release, the DMDK party said, "Vijayakanth has been admitted to a private hospital for the secondary tests. He is in good health".

The hospital said that both the leaders stayed on for observations. They have responded extremely well to treatment and are getting discharged today. 

The hospital said that Premalatha has tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday and she has been doing stable and under observation.

The hospital said, "Vijayakanth has tested positive for COVID-19 on 22nd September 2020. He is completely stable and admitted in MIOT Hospitals, Chennai". 

The reports say Vijayakanth could have contracted to the novel coronavirus when he attended the party event that was recently held at the party headquarters in Koyambedu. 

Vijayakanth has already been suffering from prolonging kidney and liver-related ailments and he has been receiving treatments at home and abroad.
