Dhanush, the versatile actor and filmmaker, is back with his second directorial venture, Raayan, which promises to be a dark comedy thriller with a twist. The first look poster of the film, which was released on Monday, has created a buzz among the fans and the critics alike.

The poster shows Dhanush, Kalidas Jayaram and Sundeep Kishan in chef aprons, holding knives and tools, while blood splatters on the walls and the floor, which is not intended to be used for cooking. The trio seems to be running a diner caravan, but their real motive is to take blood on their hands.

Raayan is Dhanush’s 50th film as the lead actor, and he has also written the script and the dialogues for the film. The film is produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, and features an ensemble cast of S. J. Suryah, Nithya Menen and Kalidas Jayaram, along with Dhanush and Sundeep Kishan.

The film has music composed by the Oscar-winning A. R. Rahman, who has collaborated with Dhanush for the second time after Maryan in Tamil. The cinematography is handled by Om Prakash, and the editing is done by Prasanna GK.

The film was officially announced in January 2023 under the tentative title D50, and the official title was announced in February 2024. Raayan is Dhanush’s second directorial film, after the critically acclaimed Pa Paandi, which was released in 2017. Dhanush has proved his mettle as an actor, singer, lyricist and producer, and now he is all set to showcase his skills as a director once again.

Raayan is said to be a genre-bending film, which will have elements of comedy, thriller, drama and action. The film will also explore the themes of friendship, loyalty, betrayal and revenge. The first look poster has already raised the curiosity and the expectations of the audience, and the makers are planning to release the teaser and the trailer soon.
