Following Vijayakanth, his wife Premalatha has now tested positive for COVID-19!

Days after DMDK Chief Vijayakanth had tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection, his wife and party's treasurer Premalatha Vijayakanth has now been confirmed to have contracted to the pandemic and she has been getting treated at the same hospital where DMDK Chief has been admitted. 

According to reports, Premalatha was tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Monday and she has got admitted to MIOT Hospitals in Manappakkam, Chennai where Vijayakanth has been admitted. Vijayakanth was tested positive for the pandemic on September 22 and was moved to MIOT Hospitals for further treatment. 

The development has shocked his fans and fraternities, who have been expressing wishes to Vijayakanth for his speedy recovery. On September 24, the hospital released the official bulletin in which it had said, "Vijayakanth has tested positive for COVID-19 on 22nd September 2020. He is completely stable and admitted in MIOT Hospitals, Chennai". 

"He is expected to make a full recovery and should be ready for discharge soon", the hospital added. Addressing the reporters earlier, Premalatha Vijayakanth said that the leader has been doing fine and he would be discharged soon. She further said that apart from Vijayakanth, none of her family members had tested positive for the viral infection. 

While Vijayakanth was expected to get discharged in one or two days, it has now been confirmed that his wife Premalatha had spelled positive for the virus. After Vijayakanth had tested positive, his residence in Chennai was disinfected and his family members had tested for COVID-19 following which Premalatha's sample had returned positive for the pandemic and she has now been getting treated at the same hospital. 

The reports say that Vijayakanth could have contracted to the novel coronavirus when he attended the party event that was recently held at the party headquarters in Koyambedu. Vijayakanth has already been suffering from prolonging kidney and liver-related ailments and he has been receiving treatments at home and abroad. As of Sunday - September 27, Tamil Nadu has reported 5,80,808 positive cases so far of which 46,341 are active, 5,25,154 have been recovered, and 9,313 had succumbed to the viral infection.
