Coimbatore has become one of the star constituencies where some of the big shots will be clashing against each other. 

Thevar community is one of the major voter bases for ADMK and it's pivotal for the party to emerge strongly in some of the areas in Southern Tamil Nadu.

After his tenure in the assembly, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu in July 2019 along with PMK Youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss. 

There are some candidates in both the Dravidian parties who are contesting in the elections with the question that whether they won't get bored in entering the assembly for successive times. 

PMK is going to contest in the upcoming polls in the state ruling ADMK alliance. PMK will be directly contesting in 23 seats, mostly in the northern districts.

While the DMK is predicted to taste a landslide victory, the ruling ADMK will end up securing 76-83 seats in the polls, nearly 50% less than what it had got in the 2016 polls. 

Annamalai had also got a ticket to contest in the Aravakurichi constituency in the Karur district and he had filed his nomination papers to contest in the polls.

With the slew of criminal record, he has decided to contest in the upcoming assembly polls from Sriperumbudur independently. 

So far, based on the nominations filed, actor turned politician Kamal Haasan is the richest candidate in Tamil Nadu as he had declared the asset of Rs 177 crore.
