Udhayanidhi Stalin has 22 FIRs against him: What else he declared in his nomination?

DMK's Youth Wing Secretary and son of MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin has filed his nomination on Monday to contest in the Chepauk-Triplicane constituency in the upcoming assembly polls. This is his first legislative election since he entered politics and he moved his nomination amid the rousing support of the party members and supporters. 

In his nomination, Udhayanidhi Stalin has declared assets worth Rs 33 crore, an income of Rs 4.89 lakh for 2019-2020, and a liability of Rs 1.35 lakh. He further declared that his wife Krithika has assets worth Rs 1.15 crore, and an income of Rs 17.4 lakh for 2019-2020. Udhayanidhi had also said that his son and daughter have Rs 23,09,511 and Rs 1,85,997 respectively under their names. 

On the front of immovable assets, Udhayanidhi has declared Rs 6.54 crore under this category and there are no immovable assets declared for his wife and children. The total assets of the DMK leader are worth Rs 26.67 crore while the total assets of his family are worth Rs 29.07 crore, which had made him one of the richest candidates in Tamil Nadu based on the nominations filed so far. 

He had also declared that Udhayanidhi has 22 cases against him and some of these FIRs had booked in Saidapet, Guindy, Kallakurichi, Nungambakkam, Nagapattinam, Thirukkuvalai, and Kuthalam police stations. All these cases were filed in connection with the protests held by the DMK under the grounds of unlawful assembly, wrongful restraint, and disobedience to order duly promulgated by a civil servant. 

Udhayanidhi Stalin had addressed the reporters after filing the nomination during which he said that he was not nervous about the election in Chepauk- Triplicane constituency. According to reports, this constituency is DMK's stronghold as the voters have been electing the DMK candidates for the successive assemblies. The Tamil Nadu Election Commission had said that 980 candidates have filed nominations as of Monday. 

So far, based on the nominations filed, actor turned politician Kamal Haasan is the richest candidate in Tamil Nadu as he had declared the asset of Rs 177 crore. Kamal Haasan will be contesting from the Coimbatore South constituency and following him is his party's vice president R Mahendran. Mahendran will be contesting from Singanallur and he has become the second richest as he declared that he and his wife have assets worth Rs 160 crore.
