Sardar marks Hindi actor Chunky Pandey's debut in Tamil cinema and it also marks the comeback of popular actress Laila after 16 years. 

The teaser shown Karthi’s character Vijay Prakash being recruited as a spy by a top official, after being disgraced as the ‘son of a traitor’ and fired from the police department.

The movie, which was released on October 21 in time for Diwali, has had a fantastic box office performance and received mostly favorable reviews. 

Sardar had a theatrical release on October 21 during the occasion of Diwali and has tasted a stupendous theatrical run with more positive reviews. 

It is the first time that Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan have clashed directly at the box office after both of their films were released on October 21.

The sequel to PS Mithran's 'Sardar', which got released a week ago and received favourable reviews, was officially announced at a success meet on Tuesday.

Karthi is portraying multi-characters as seen in trailer, by playing a double role. The film's trailer was released on night hours of Friday in a lavish event that was held in Chennai. 

Interestingly, Karthi is also awaiting the release of his next movie 'Sardar' which will hit the big screens during this year's Diwali - on October 24.
