The only Diwali releases this year were Sivakarthikeyan's Prince and Karthi's Sardaar. It is the first time that Karthi and Sivakarthikeyan have clashed directly at the box office after both of their films were released on October 21. On Friday - October 28, both movies marked their seventh day of the theatrical run.
Sardar was shown on 380 screens in Tamil Nadu on its first day and the numbers increased to 500 the following day. It only grossed Rs 5 crore on the first day but quickly accelerated to 50 crores in just five days. Soon after, it was reported to have brought in up to 75 crores. The same is true for this week's ticket sales, which are also increasing and are soon anticipated to join the 100 crore club.
On the other hand, Sivakarthikeyan's "Prince" opened on more than 600 screens in Tamil Nadu, and according to trade reports, it has already made close to Rs 40 crore in just five days. According to initial analyses, Prince made between Rs 1 and Rs 1.50 crore on its sixth day in theatres.
As the collections have been steadily declining over the last few days, the movie appears to be nearing the end of its theatrical run. A renowned industry insider has confirmed and revealed that Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1, Rishab Shetty's Kantara, and Karthi's Sardar will all begin playing in more theatres. KV Anudeep wrote and directed the romantic comedy Prince. Sathyaraj and Maria Ryaboshapka play significant roles in the movie as well.
The movie, which was co-produced by Suresh Productions and Gopuram Cinemas, features music by S Thaman, editing by Praveen KL, and cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa. PS Mithran's thriller Sardar is about a spy who goes rogue to defend the nation from a massive conspiracy. In the film, Karthi plays two roles. The movie also stars Rajisha Vijayan, Rashi Khanna, Laila, and Chunky Pandey, while GV Prakash composed the music.
