The sequel to PS Mithran's 'Sardar', which got released a week ago and received favourable reviews, was officially announced at a success meet on Tuesday. Lakshman Kumar has bankrolled Sardar through his production company, Prince Pictures. 

Chunky Pandey, Rajisha Vijayan, Raashii Khanna, Laila, Murali Sharma, Munishkanth, and Ilavarasu had significant roles in addition to Karthi's leading dual roles. The film's creators showed a clip from the film's ending during the success meeting, which was held in Chennai on Tuesday, and revealed that the plot will continue in Sardar: Part 2. The sequel will be directed by PS Mithran and Karthi has also confirmed the development in his speech as well. 

On its opening day, Sardar made 6.4 crores in Tamil Nadu alone and 9.4 crores globally. 10.25 crores were expended on the Diwali festival in Tamil Nadu, 1.8 crores in Andhra and Telangana, and 13.45 crores worldwide. Sardar, which cost 30 crores to make, has so far made 34.25 crores in Tamil Nadu alone. 

Prince Pictures, also shared the sequel update on its social media handle by taking us to Twitter and wrote, "#Sardar  Once a spy, always a spy! Mission starts soon!! #Sardar2" Interestingly, this will be the actor's first sequel project in his film career. It's vital to note that the actor also has the sequels to Ponniyin Selvan and Kaithi 2, both of which are eagerly anticipated. 

While Kaithi 2 is anticipated to begin production in the second half of 2023,  the updates about the Sardar sequel are yet to be made. However, it is still uncertain which movie's sequel will be given the honour of serving fans first in the upcoming days.
