After Viruman, Vandhiyathevan avatar in Ponniyin Selvan, PS Mithran's Sardar provided Karthi with a squared-off action treat. The movie, which was released on October 21 in time for Diwali, has had a fantastic box office performance and received mostly favorable reviews. 

In more than two weeks since its release, Sardar has amassed box office receipts of Rs 100 crore. The movie is currently marching toward its digital debut to rule the watchlist of film enthusiasts. PS Mithran, who directed the action-thriller Sardar, is known for his previous films, Irumbu Thirai and Hero. Rashi Khanna, Chunky Panday, and Laila all had significant roles in Sardar, which also starred Karthi in a dual role. GV Prakash Kumar composed the music. 

The happy news that the movie will be released on OTT came just as fans were wondering when this movie would light up digital screens. According to the makers, Sardar will be available on Aha Tamil from November 24, and additionally, Kalaignar TV bought the satellite rights to the film. Agent Chandra Bose, alias Sardar, an ex-RAW field agent, and Inspector Vijay Prakash, Bose's son, were two characters that Karthi played.

Lakshman Kumar, through his company Prince Pictures, bankrolled Sardar, and Udhayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies was in charge of distribution. Veteran actress Laila made her cinematic comeback after 16 years and actor Chunky Panday makes his Tamil film debut. Ruben did the editing, and George Williams did the cinematography. The sequel to Sardar was just formally announced by the production company.
