From Prince to Kanam...When and where you can watch a league of Diwali special films?

These crisp, perfect pairings of films are coming this week to snugly pack this weekend with binge-worthy entertainment and to fulfil all binge-watching desires. From Prince to the Telugu blockbuster Bimbisaara to Brahmastra, everyone has been lining up to fully enjoy the holiday. Given the occasion of Diwali, this weekend's releases are especially remarkable. 

Many movies are also obtainable, giving fans plenty to add to their watchlists. Having said that, let's take a look at the new movies coming to OTT and theatres, as a Diwali special, that everyone will be talking about. 

Theatre releases

Prince                                                                                                                                                     Release: October 21

Three days ahead of Diwali, the Sivakarthikeyan starrer, laugh-riot family entertainer has already hit theatres. Sivakarthikeyan plays the role of a school teacher 'Anbu', premising the tale of love among linguistic territories. Prince is bankrolled by D Suresh Babu Narayan Das K Narang, and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao through Suresh Productions Pvt, Sree Venkateshwara Cinemas LLP, and Shanthi Talkies. The cinematography is done by Manoj Paramahamsa, while Praveen KL has served as the editor.

Sardar                                                                                                                                                      Release: October 21

Sardar directed by PS Mithran and starring Karthi as the lead is getting cherished the film enthusiasts and theatregoers. On a special note, Karthi is portraying multi-characters as seen in the released trailer, by playing a double role. The movie centred on a secret mission related to militants, that was targeted in the Rajaji Bhavan. Raashi Khanna plays the opposite of the actor, whereas Chunky Panday, Laila, and Rajisha Vijayan all have crucial significant roles. 

OTT releases

Pettaikaali: 

OTT platform: Aha
OTT Release Date: October 21

The maiden web series on the traditional bull-chasing sport Jallikattu, Pettaikaali, has got released on October 21 on Aha Tamil. The rural drama is directed by Rajkumar, a former associate of director Vetri Maaran. Kalaiyarasan, who plays the lead in the web series, will play a bull tamer for the first time in his career. Music for the series is by Santhosh Narayanan and Velraj, who is a regular in Vetri Maaran's projects, has handled the cinematography.

Bimbisara

Release Date – October 21, 2022

On August 5, 2022, Bimbisara was released in theatres. It received favourable reviews from critics and successfully rocked the box office. Keeravani, best known for his work on the Bahubali series, composed the film's music. In the movie, time travel allows King Bimbisara of the Trigartala Empire from the 5th century BCE to arrive in the present day. The movie was a Pan-Indian release, available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.

Ammu

Release Date – October 19, 2022

Famed for Ponniyin Selvan - Poonguzhali, Ammu, is played by Aishwarya Lekshmi in a new, daring drama that follows a woman's journey from being a victim of domestic violence to overcome her inner conflicts, finding her inner strength, and returning it to her abusive husband. Ammu starts a new chapter in her life when she marries her next-door neighbour Ravi (Naveen Chandra). However, after Ravi starts abusing her, their relationship deteriorates. Ammu decides to teach Ravi a lesson after taking a beating and receiving insults. To exact revenge on Ravi, Ammu joins forces with Prabhu (Bobby Simha), a parolee from prison.

Kanam:

The film Kanam, which received positive reviews, was just released in Tamil and Telugu on September 9 of 2022 in the theatres. Sharwanand, Amala Akkineni, and Ritu Varma are the stars of it. In the Telugu version, Vennela Kishore, Priyadarshi, and Nassar have supporting roles; in the Tamil version, Sathish and Ramesh Thilak take their place. Dream Warrior Pictures is the production company behind debutant Shree Karthick's writing and directing. Aadhi and his friends decide to travel through time to correct their past using a scientist in order to make their present better. Time, however, had other ideas for them.

Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva

Release: October 23, 2022

Shah Rukh Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and others appear in the Ayanmukherjee-directed film "Brahmastra." On September 9, the movie was released in theatres. According to reports, the movie has made $400 million worldwide. It tells the story of a collision between a group of sages in the Himalayas and the energy Brahm-shakti, which results in numerous celestial weapons of great power known as astras, in ancient India. The Brahmastra, the strongest of them, has the power to end the world. The sages use their individual astras to control the erratic Brahmastra. 

Apart from these, there has been strong speculation that Dhanush starred 'Naanve Varuven', directed by Selvaraghavan, will get released on Amazon Prime on October 24. Recently, veteran actor R Parthiban has hinted on his social media page that his film Iravin Nizhal, which he directed, might soon make its OTT release. However, the official confirmation is yet to be made.
