To realize this unconventional dream, he enlists the help of Ray Dasan, a former assistant director to Satyajit Ray, eager to make his directorial debut.

The plot, set in 1975, revolves around the first black-skinned hero of Tamil cinema, a concept rooted in Rajinikanth's journey, especially considering his debut film 'Apoorva Raagangal' released in the same year.

The film also features Nimisha Sajayan, Shine Tom Chacko, Sathyan, Aravind Akash, Ilavarasu, and  Bava Chelladurai in pivotal roles.

Set in 1975, the teaser showcases the retro style, vintage cars, colourful costumes, and catchy dialogues that will transport the audience to a different era.

The film also boasts of a stellar technical crew, led by Oscar-winning composer A.R. Rahman, who has collaborated with Mari Selvaraj for the first time.

The release scheduled to coincide with Diwali in 2023, as per official announcement from the makers earlier through the film’s  teaser,  gave a glimpse of the Western-inspired style and tone of the film.

According to Karthik Subbaraj, the film's franchise can continue even 20 years from now with new directors continuing to shoot it at the intersection of crime and art.

They also shared a video featuring the ensemble star posing in a swag in a villainous style behind a vintage venue hall in a massive action ambiance. 

Jigarthanda 2 is not a sequel to the first film, as Karthik Subburaj recently stated in an interview. 

It is worth noting the fact that the doubled symbol of the elephant is hinted at in everything from the announcement video to the film poster to the teaser video.
