Jigarthanda DoubleX Teaser: Karthik Subburaj to treat a blast from the 70s

The teaser of the much-awaited sequel to the cult classic Jigarthanda is finally here. Jigarthanda DoubleX, starring Raghava Lawrence and SJ Suryah, promises to be a thrilling ride of action, drama and comedy. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film is a homage to the original Jigarthanda, which was released in 2014 and won critical acclaim and box office success.

Dhanush took to X, and presented the awaiting teaser, writing, "Glad to launch the trailer of @karthiksubbaraj ”s jigarthanda double x.  This looks like an absolute blast.#JigarthandaDoubleX -  Teaser.  Best wishes to @karthiksubbaraj and team for Diwali 2023."

The two-and-a-half-minute teaser features the same signature theme of the original film, as a filmmaker played by SJ Suryah pursues his dream project from a ruthless villain, played by Raghava Lawrence. Set in 1975, the teaser showcases the retro style, vintage cars, colourful costumes, and catchy dialogues that will transport the audience to a different era.

The music composed by Santhosh Narayanan, who has collaborated with Karthik Subbaraj for the fifth time. The film is produced by Kaarthekeyen Santhanam and Kathiresan, and presented by Stone Bench Films. Jigarthanda DoubleX is slated to release in Diwali 2023, and is expected to be a treat for the fans of Jigarthanda and Tamil cinema.

The film is edited by Shafique Mohamed Ali, cinematographed by S Thirunavukkarasu, production designed by T Santanam, stunts choreographed by Dhilip Subbbarayan, art directed by Balasubramanian and Kumar Gangappan.
