Jigarthanda 2 starts with wondrous announcement teaser! Don't miss the staggering video...

With the first Jigarthanda being an action comedy about an aspiring filmmaker who wants to make a film on a real-life gangster, the sequel seems to be hinting at the double high-octane actions from the power actors SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence. The director of the film series, Karthik Subburaj, announced the surprise announcement teaser on Sunday, and the film commenced on floors today.

The first part was released in 2014, and the cast featured Siddharth, Bobby Simha, Lakshmi Menon, Karunakaran, and Guru Somasundaram. Jigarthanda 2 is not a sequel to the first film, as Karthik Subburaj recently stated in an interview. And he also said that the idea for Jigarthanda 2 came to him soon after he finished shooting Iraivi.

On Monday he took to Twitter and wrote by confirming the film's shooting has started, "On this Auspicious day with all your blessings.... We have started the Shoot of #JigarthandaDoubleX" A teaser trailer released alongside the news depicted SJ Suryah and Raghava Lawrence as monstrous men, united by their shared hatred and vengeance. It is worth noting the fact that the doubled symbol of the elephant is hinted at in everything from the announcement video to the film poster to the teaser video.

Fans of the original film, which Karthik Subbaraj directed, were evidently ecstatic to hear that production was started for the second film eight years after the first. Jigarthanda Double X is the title of the film under the Stone Bench Films banner. The music is by Santosh Narayanan.  Karthi Subbaraj has also directed the films Mercury (starring Prabhu Deva), Petta (starring Rajinikanth), Jagame Thandhiram (starring Dhanush), and Mahaan (starring Vikram and Dhruv Vikram).
