After the incident came to light, the parents of the victim filed a police complaint against the accused men at the all-women police station in Chengalpet. 

In contradiction to what his counsel has divulged in the court, the actor is yet to reach India even as he tries to secure an anticipatory bail to evade the arrest in the case. 

Debsharma will be produced before a local magistrate in Kolkata on Monday to acquire the warrant of transit after which he will be brought to Chennai for further investigation.

The police have come to know about the crime not from the victim but from the assailants who had confessed about the gang-rape during their quarrel. 

Two DMK functionaries and three school students were among the eight people who got arrested in the case, which has reminisced the horrible Pollachi gang rape case. 

The dreadful crime has come to light after the victim has approached the women's helpline following which the concerned police department was informed. 

After the trial, Parasuraman was found guilty of the crime and he has now been sentenced to 15 years in jail along with a fine of Rs 5000.

On Monday, Chengalpattu SP Aravindhan took to Twitter and wrote, "Regarding a viral video of a minor girl in Sadras PS limit, an fir has been registered under relevant provisions of IPC and pocso act."

The incident has happened on March 8 at around 10.30 pm and the accused were nabbed based on the complaint from the actor. 

Mulakkal had been denying the rape allegations and he claimed that the story was fabricated and in retaliation for taking action against the nun based on a complaint raised by a woman.
