The Tamil Nadu Health department has further instructed the authorities to ensure that people are encouraged to adhere to the Covid-19 appropriate behaviours.

The statement from the minister has come when the Union government has decided to relinquish the lockdown and containment measures from April.

Ajay Bhalla has highlighted that after the expiry of the existing order on March 31, no further order will be issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Of the total 576 active cases, Chennai has accounted for 200 of them, followed by Chengalpattu with 68, and Coimbatore with 49 cases.

India has begun its vaccination drive on January 16, 2021, with an initial target of vaccinating three crore healthcare workers. 

The state has recorded zero Covid deaths on Friday for the first time in two years and the trend had continued for the third day in a row. 

The development has come when the state and the country are just days ahead to mark the second anniversary of the nationwide lockdown. 

Ever since it was formed in the backdrop of the Covid pandemic, it has been surfaced with nationwide concerns over its handling and accountability.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu is all set for the new phase of restrictions that were announced by the government on Thursday.

The announcement has come four days ahead of the deadline of the current lockdown, which was imposed at the backdrop of the emergence of the third wave and the Omicron spread.
