Vadivelu and Vijay have worked together in several films, such as Friends, Vaseegara,  Bagavathi, Madura, Sachein, Pokkiri, Villu, Sura and Kaavalan, Mersal.

Maareesan is the second film that brings together Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, after their successful outing in Mamannan, a political satire directed by Mari Selvaraj.

The music for the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji.

The unanimous sentiment was that Vadivelu, renowned for his unmatched comic timing, should lend his iconic voice to the alien character.

Raghava Lawrence as the protagonist, who plays the lead along with Kangana Ranaut who will play the titular and famous Chandramukhi dancer, who is possessed as a vengeful spirit.

Jaggu, or Jagatheeswaran as he is fondly known, graced the silver screen in the iconic movie 'Kadhal Azhivathillai' alongside Simbu, playing the role of the hero's trusted friend.

The film also features Radhika Sarathkumar, Srushti Dange, Lakshmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar and Rao Ramesh in supporting roles.

It will also be a refreshing change for Vadivelu, who has mostly done comedy roles with rural and rustic flavours.

Murugesan was a loyal servant of Rajinikanth’s character, who was also a hilarious coward and a source of comic relief in the film.

Vadivelu’s comeback film Maamannan, which showcased his serious acting chops, caught the eye of the star, who decided to rope him in for his next production.
