Shockingly, Vani Jairam has breathed her last, days after she was announced as a recipient of Padma Bhushan award, which is one of India's highest civilian honours.

28-year-old Anbarasan is the son of a DSP from Vellore and he was among the four people who were arrested by the police on Thursday - February 2. 

T Manickam was apprehended by the police amid a public outrage over the unruly behaviours of the DMK leaders, including ministers, in recent times. 

44-year-old Roja Ramesh has been serving as an ADMK's ward councillor in Gummidipoondi panchayat in the Tiruvallur district.

Though Priyadharshini's detention was for a brief time, the event has invited flak against the police amid the apparent clampdown on the documentary and its screening that's palpable across the country. 

Based on a complaint from councillor's husband, the police registered a case and former four special teams to locate the missing mother and son. 

The arrest was made on Tuesday, a day after the call was made and based on the complaint from the Minister's aide Rajasekaran. 

In the meeting that was held to ensure an effective police force to control crime and drug menace, the Chief Minister took stock of the law and order situation in the state. 

While the police have initially claimed that the boy died after eating spoiled food, the further probe revealed that he was beaten by the cops to death. 

The deceased woman was identified as 32-year-old Ramya, who was the daughter-in-law of DMK functionary Dravida Balu, who was murdered in 2013.
