The film was released in 2005 in Tamil, and was later dubbed into Telugu as Aparichithudu and Hindi as Aparichit. 

However, with the intervention of actor-producer Udhayanidhi Stalin, who came on board as an additional producer, the film was revived and resumed shooting in September last year.

The music of the film is composed by Thaman S, while the cinematography is handled by Tirru.

Shankar has always pushed the boundaries of filmmaking with his innovative storytelling, technical excellence and social relevance.

Also, the footage shot so far was too long 6 hours, so naturally the film requires a part 3 to do justice to the story and the characters.

The actor has undergone extensive prosthetic makeup to transform into the aged vigilante who fights against corruption and injustice.

Recently, he met the members of his fan association, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam (VMI), and discussed his political plans with them.

However, the makers have now revived the project with some major changes and are planning to release it in April 2024.

However, the film ran into trouble again recently when the shoot was halted abruptly at the Chennai airport due to no proper permissions.

This adds more spice to the clash between the two films, as both have huge fan bases across India and abroad. Both the films are expected to release in multiple languages and create a new record at the box office.
