Lingusamy's films Run, Sandaikozhi, Paiyaa and Anjaan were all commercial successes. The filmmaker made his debut in Tollywood with the Telugu film The Warriorr. It has been announced that after 13 years of the release of Bhaiya, there are reports that director Lingusamy is planning to make the second part of Paiyaa with a big budget. He also helmed a sequel for Sandaikozhi.

'Paiyaa' starred Karthi and Tamanaah Bhatia, but rumour has it that the filmmaker has already approached Arya and Jhanvi Kapoor for the lead roles in the sequel. If this is true, then Sridevi's daughter Jhanvi Kapoor will make her debut in Tamil with this film.  The first part has a beautifully written love tale where Karthi and Tamannaah play off each other wonderfully.

Janhvi Kapoor, who currently making a mark in Bollywood films, recently starred in the Hindi remake of Kolamavu Kokila. The movie got good response like Tamil. Janhvi Kapoor, who had expressed her desire to act in South Indian films, is said to be stepping into Kollywood with Paiyaa 2.

Karthi and Tamannaah's 2010 film Paiyaa earned positive reviews from moviegoers. Seeing its success in Tamil, this movie was dubbed into Telugu, Bengali, and Kannada, where it also did well. The film's score, written by Yuvan Shankar Raja's  flamboyant music still continues to make fans vibe .

Whether  Paiyaa 2  will continue the events of the first film or follow a wholly new plot is still up in the air. The film also featured Sonia Deepti, Jagan, Milind Soman, Darshan Jariwala, Jasper, and others; it was produced by Lingusamy's Tirupati Brothers production company.
