Thalaivar 171 Buzz: Superstar - Lokesh Kanagaraj film's casting gets bigger!

The upcoming film Thalaivar 171, which marks the first collaboration between superstar Rajinikanth and director Lokesh Kanagaraj, has been making headlines ever since it was announced. The film, which is expected to be a mass entertainer with a strong social message, has already completed its photoshoot and test shoot in Chennai.

The film, which was officially announced in September, is said to be one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema, with a budget of over 300 crores. The film also boasts of a star-studded cast that includes many other heroes from different industries.

According to the latest sources, Sivakarthikeyan and Mollywood megastar Mammootty are the latest additions to the cast of Thalaivar 171. Sivakarthikeyan, who is a huge fan of Rajinikanth, hinted at his involvement in the film during an event for Star Sports.

When asked about the rumour, he replied, “No need for the Thalaivar to call me. Enough said, I will run and stand at the shooting spot. I am such a fanatical to him”. Mammootty, who has shared screen space with Rajinikanth in Maniratnam's Thalapathi in 1991, is also expected to play a pivotal role in the film.

The film, which is an action thriller, will have the action scenes choreographed by Anbariv, the duo of Anbu and Arivu, who has worked with Lokesh Kanagaraj in his previous films. The film also reunites Rajinikanth with Anirudh Ravichander, who composed the music for his previous films Jailer, Petta and Darbar.

Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is known for his LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe) films, has already confirmed that Thalaivar 171 will not be a part of his LCU and will be a standalone film. Thalaivar 171 is produced by Sun Pictures. The film is expected to go on floors soon after Rajinikanth wraps up his current project Thalaivar 170, directed by TJ Gnanavel.
