The girl was charred to death by the unidentified assailants and the district police department has installed ten special teams to probe the death.

Superintendent of Police, Trichy has installed three special teams under the Deputy Superintendent to carry out the probe into the death of the minor girl.

Based on the autopsy report, it can be ascertained whether the accused must be booked under the sections of the Protection of Children against Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

The police had registered the case against the accused under section 307- attempt to murder, of the Indian Penal Code, and under section 12- sexual harassment, of the POCSO Act.

The back to back incidents had revealed the prevalence of the female infanticide in southern districts of Tamil Nadu and the existence of patriarchal and biased societies against women.

The commission has stated that the victims would be provided with immediate security through the respective state police and local administration.
