In order to get rich and wealthy, a 41-year-old man in Tamil Nadu's Pudukottai district has reportedly murdered his own daughter and offered her as a human sacrifice as per the 'ill-ful' advice given to him by the woman who has been practicing 'black magic' and horrific act has become one of the dreadful incidents committed against women in the state, which has recently witnessed the incidents of female infanticide.

According to the reports, the father, Panneerselvam, was reportedly going through financial stress and problems. He, along with his friend Kumar, has met Vasanthi, a sorceress who practices black magic and upon meeting her, she advised Pannerselvam to murder his daughter to solve his financial problems and to get rich. The sorceress went on to promise that the family would get more wealth and magical powers if they murder the daughter.

Without defying the advice, the family has plotted to execute her daughter as a human sacrifice. Panneerselvam and his second wife Mookayi, along with Vasanthi and Kumar, have decided to slaughter a 13-year-old daughter who born for Panneer's first wife. One day prior to human sacrifice, they performed pooja using a saree and they buried it after the ritual.

The next day, Panneer took his 13-year-old daughter to the eucalyptus farm and once they reached the farm, Paneer took the shawl of the girl and choked her neck with the shawl while Kumar and Mookayi were reportedly holding the hands and legs of the girl and after knowing that the girl has stopped shaking her legs, they thought she was dead. 

The reports stated that Panneer has reportedly taken off the underwear of the girl to conceal the murder and cook the story that she had died due to sexual assault. The incident happened on May 18 and the relatives of the girl found her to be unconscious with the strangulation marks in the eucalyptus forest at Nodiyur village in Gandharvakottai, Pudukottai. The girl was rushed to the Thanjavur government hospital. However, she died there on May 19. 

When the autopsy report ruled out the sexual assault crime, the district police department went suspicious and the police were searching Kumar as he was absconding and he surrendered before the police on Monday - June 1, and during the interrogation, he confessed that he was a part of the crime and they killed the girl as a human sacrifice. 

The police had arrested Pannerselvam and registered the case against the accused under section 307- attempt to murder, of the Indian Penal Code, and under section 12- sexual harassment, of the POCSO Act. The investigation is on and the police department has been tracing to detain Vasanthi and her friend. The reports further stated that Mookayi, who was part of the crime, was found dead under the grounds of suspicion and the police have been investigating her death and the autopsy report on her death is awaited.
