The state has closed the first week of the fifth phase of the lockdown by not only recording a thousand cases each day but also transcending the previous tallies.
The state government said that the price caps are fixed and are maximum and stated that the private hospitals shouldn't levy more charges on the patients than the fixed price cap.
On May 25, India has become the tenth worst-hit nation due to COVID-19 and within a fortnight, the country surpassed other major affected countries like Turkey, Germany, France, and Italy.
Currently, Chennai has the most number of COVID-19 cases in Tamil Nadu and the city is one of the 13 worst affected Indian cities, leaving the state government with more challenges to tackle the spread.
The High court resumed on June 1, when the fifth phase of the lockdown came into effect, with 33 benches and the judges heard the cases through video conferencing from the courtrooms.
Chennai currently has 15 active zones with more cases in Royapuram ( Zone 5 -3388 cases) followed by Tondiarpet (Zone 4 - 2261 cases), and Teynampet (Zone 9 - 2136).
