Dhoni has retired in all forms of cricket in 2020 and he was captaining CSK following his retirement. As he has now handed over the captaincy of CSK, he is no longer the captain of any form of cricket.
The announcement of transition was made on Thursday -March 24, two days ahead of the commencement of IPL 2022 where the CSK will be opening the season.

Earlier this week, Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanath has said that CSK did not acquire Suresh Raina as he may not fit in the current team's composition.
