Maareesan is the second film that brings together Vadivelu and Fahadh Faasil, after their successful outing in Mamannan, a political satire directed by Mari Selvaraj.

The music for the film is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, while the cinematography is handled by Kalaiselvan Sivaji.

As the spotlight usually shines on heroes and heroines, this year saw a remarkable twist with some of the industry's most unexpected actors taking on villainous roles.

The versatile actor Arvind Swamy, who made a stunning comeback with his villainous role in the 2015 blockbuster Thani Oruvan, is all set to don the director’s hat for the first time.

The film features Udhayanidhi Stalin and Vadivelu as the father-son duo, Fahadh Faasil as the antagonist, and Keerthy Suresh as the female lead.

It will also be a refreshing change for Vadivelu, who has mostly done comedy roles with rural and rustic flavours.

The song has been trending on social media platforms, with fans appreciating the soulful lyrics by Yugabharathi and the chemistry between the lead pair.

He is the antagonist of the film, who clashes with Maamannan (Vadivelu), a lower-caste MLA who fights for justice and equality.

She made her acting debut in 2016 with the Tamil film Oru Kidayin Karunai Manu, followed by other notable films like Rocky,Veeramae Vaagai Soodum   , and Love Today.
