Though the CBCID has been on the grounds and detained the police officers behind the death, the state government wished to stick with its decision of bringing CBI to probe the matter.
The petitioner said that the Chief Minister issued a statement claiming that the father and son duo were died due to health issues and not due to the police torture.
Inspector General of CB-CID Shankar said that the four police officers have been booked under section 302- murder, 342- punishment for wrongful confinement, and 201 - causing disappearance of evidence under the Indian Penal code.
The family members of the victims had also welcomed the arrests and thanked people for voicing for justice. The family expressed their hope that the accused will be met with the maximum punishments.
The CBCID has been probing the case as per the directive of the High court despite the Tamil Nadu government has transferred the case to the CBI on Monday.
