Given the severity of the case and accused, the Uttar Pradesh Police department had deployed heavy security at the court premises to counter the grounds of any untoward incidents.
The CBI said that it had found nothing incriminating against the accused and hence wants to close the case and the court has stated that the evidence on record is not adequate to launch a prosecutable case.
The case carries 32 accused including former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani and BJP leaders Murali Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti, Kalyan Singh, and Vinay Katiyar.
The CBI has pitched in for the probe as per the direction of the Central government which ordered the Central agency to probe the matter based on the request moved by the Tamil Nadu state government.
