P Chidambaram had reacted to the searches and said that the timing of the search is interesting. He also cited that the search team has found nothing in the search at his residence in Chennai. 

The raids have come as trouble for P Chidambaram when he has been eyeing to win a Rajya Sabha seat from Tamil Nadu in the upcoming polls. 

The sentence had quickly drawn huge national attention and has come a week after the former Chief Minister was found guilty by the court. 

Earlier, the Tamil Nadu Police had objected to the CBI probe into the case and approached the Supreme Court against it.

The prosecution has said that the videos were not made public till the girl's death and that it was an attempt to make her death politics. 

On Monday, two ministers Firhad Hakim and Subrata Mukherjee, TMC MLA Madan Mitra, and former minister Sovan Chattopadhyay were arrested by the CBI in the Narada scam case.

All four were arrested after Governor Jagdeep Dhankar had permitted the CBI to prosecute them in the scam, that was unfolded in 2014, during Mamata Banerjee's first tenure as the Chief Minister.

Mamata Banerjee had claimed that the governor's approval was illegal. The TMC had urged the CBI to arrest Suvendu Adhikari and Mukul Roy who also were accused in the same case. 

Kundu has confirmed that his predecessor had died by suicide and recovered a suicide note in which Kumar hadn't blamed anyone for his death.
