Thalapathy Vijay, one of the most popular actors in Tamil cinema, is known for his mass appeal and catchy songs. However, his latest song, Naa Ready, from his upcoming film Leo, has landed him in legal trouble. A social activist from Chennai has filed a complaint against the actor and the makers of the film for allegedly promoting drug addiction and rowdyism in the song.
The complainant has demanded a ban on the film and action against Vijay under the Narcotic Control Act. The song, which was released on Vijay’s birthday on June 22, has become a hit among his fans but has also sparked controversy for its lyrics and visuals.
The complainant, RTI Selvam, is a social activist from Korukkupet, Chennai. He filed an online complaint on June 25 and submitted his petition at around 10 am on June 26. He alleged that the Naa Ready song from Leo encourages drug addiction among youth and promotes rowdy behaviour. He pointed out that Vijay is seen dancing while holding a cigarette in the song.
He also claimed that the song promotes smoking and alcohol consumption. He urged the court to take action against Vijay and the makers of Leo under the Narcotic Control Act. The song composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Vijay himself, has become a viral hit among his fans. The song has garnered over 50 million views on YouTube since its release.
However, the complaint filed by RTI Selvam has created a buzz on social media, with some netizens supporting the actor and some criticizing him. Vijay and the Leo team have not responded to the complaint or the allegations yet. It remains to be seen how this legal issue will affect the release and reception of the film, which is expected to be a blockbuster.
