Viral: This actress to pair up with Vijay after two decades in Venkat Prabhu's Thalapathy68

The buzz around Vijay’s next film, tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 68’, is getting louder by the day. The film, which will be directed by Venkat Prabhu, has already confirmed Yuvan Shankar Raja as the music composer and AGS Cinemas as the producer. But the big question on fans mind is: who will play the female lead opposite Vijay?

According to the latest reports, Venkat Prabhu is keen on roping in Jyotika for the role. If this happens, it will be a reunion of sorts for the two actors after 20 years, who have previously worked together in ‘Kushi’ and ‘Thirumalai’. However, nothing has been finalized yet and Jyotika is yet to give her nod.

Jyotika, who is one of the most sought-after actresses in Tamil cinema, had reportedly turned down an offer to star with Vijay in Atlee’s ‘Mersal’ in 2017. She is currently busy with her Hindi project. She has also wrapped up shooting for her upcoming Malayalam film ‘Kaathal-The Core’, where she will share screen space with Mammooty.

Meanwhile, Venkat Prabhu is also finalizing the rest of the cast and crew for ‘Thalapathy 68’. There are speculations that director-actor SJ Suryah might play the antagonist in the film. The film is expected to go on floors soon and release next year.

‘Thalapathy 68’ will be Venkat Prabhu’s tenth directorial venture. He is known for his comedy entertainers like ‘Chennai 600028’, ‘Saroja’, ‘Goa’, ‘Mankatha’ and ‘Biriyani’. His last venture was Custody, starred Naga Chaithanya and Krithi Shetty which received a warm lukewarm reception, and the film to be debuted on Prime Video from Friday.
