Actor Vijay's father SA Chandrasekhar has on Thursday opened up about their soaring relationship, which had become the first-of-its-kind revelation in recent times. 76-year-old Chandrasekhar has been active in directing movies and he has now directed a movie 'Naan Kadavul Illai' starred by Samuthirakani. It's Chandrasekar's 71st movie as a director and as it has been getting ready for a release, the press meet for the movie was held in Chennai on Thursday.
While addressing the press meet, Chandrasekhar has opened up about his relationship with his son Vijay and he admitted that there has been a dispute between both of them and that disputes are natural in a family. He also had responded to the rumours of how Vijay was named. He said, "I have spoken about how I named Vijay in a movie event two days back. I have named him Vijay as it means success. However, some of the people are spreading stories that Vijay's grandfather was working in Vauhini Studios and he had run to Vauhini Studios founder Nagi Reddy with his grandson and it was Nagi Reddy who named his grandson as Vijay."
By strongly denying such reports, Chandrasekhar appealed to the media not to speak about personal life and admitted that he and Vijay have a dispute. He said, "Yes, we have a dispute. It happens in every family. Father and son will fight each other and they will join again. It's a common thing and I am proud that Vijay has reached a height where everyone will turn heads when they heard his name." Through Chandrasekhar's comment, it has come to the revelation that the father and son observe a conflict for years and that they are not talking to each other.
The conflict had come to the limelight in November last year when Chandrasekhar had taken efforts to bring Vijay into politics by moving an application to register a political party. It was said that Vijay had converted his fan club Vijay Makkal Iyakkam into All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam and moved his application to register it as the political party. When it had stirred a political debate across the state, Vijay's father Chandrasekhar had come into the picture. Chandrasekhar had revealed that he was the one who moved the application to launch the political party under the name of All India Thalapathy Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.
He claimed that Vijay had no knowledge about the move to launch the political party. Chandrasekar went on to say that Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been active since the 1990s and he had moved to convert it as the political party to recognize the members of the outfit. Later, Vijay had strongly denied his political entry and affirmed that he has no connection with his father's political bid. Vijay went on to issue a staunch statement against his father and in what had become an open conflict, Vijay had warned that strict action will be taken against the people who are indulging in activities by using his face and the name of Vijay Makkal Iyakkam.
Last November, after the drama of the political party, Vijay's mother Sobha has revealed that there is a conflict between the actor and his father Chandrasekhar. Shobha said that Vijay has not been speaking with his father for a long time. She had further revealed that Vijay had told Chandrasekhar multiple times not to speak about his politics in public. However, Chandrasekhar hasn't listened to Vijay due to which Vijay has been maintaining a distance from his father.
