India's prominent star couple Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan's wedding has become the talk of the town over its affluence and grandeur arrangements. Fondly known as Lady Superstar, Nayanthara is all set to marry her beau Vignesh Shivan on June 9 in a resort in Chennai's Mahabalipuram. One of the much-awaited ceremonies by the fans, the wedding is just one day away and it has already earned a spotlight from across and beyond the borders.
According to reports, the ceremony will be private yet be lavish and the couple has invited the media for a pre-wedding meeting on the same day. Recently, they had met Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and his son and actor Udhayanidhi Stalin and invited them to the wedding. Earlier, it was reported that they would tie the knot at Tirupati and eventually, the venue has now been locked as iconic Mahabalipuram.
Amid the full-fledged arrangements, the couple has released a video invite which has been going viral. This digital invite was sent by the couple to their close relatives and friends and it has background music from the movie 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in which they had their first collaboration. It was from this collaboration that they developed a relationship, which after seven years, has led to their marriage.
The digital invite read, "With the blessings of God Almighty, our elders and the universe, we cordially invite you to the wedding ceremony of Nayanthara, daughter of Kurian Kodiyattu and Mrs Omana Kurian, and Vignesh Shivan, son of late Mr Sivakolundu and Mrs Meenakumari." The couple has chosen ethnic pastels as the dress code for their wedding.
The wedding would be taking place at Sheraton Grand in Mahabalipuram. On June 7, Vignesh Shivan has held a pre-wedding press meet in Chennai to inform that the couple will be getting married on June 9. He has further revealed that the couple wanted to conduct the ceremony in Tirupati, but decided not to due to logistical difficulties. He has noted that he is grateful to the media for supporting his stint in filmmaking, and is expecting the same kind of support as he embarks on an important journey.
The reports say Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan will be addressing the media after their wedding on June 11. To set a new precedent, they had made interesting plans for their wedding. The reports say that the star couple has signed a deal with prominent OTT Netflix to telecast their wedding. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan had sold their wedding video rights to Netflix for a big amount and if this would be true, they will become the first couple from the South Indian film industry to have their wedding streamed on OTT.
Another interesting factor of their wedding is that popular director Gautham Vasudev Menon will be looking over the direction and design of the wedding, which will later be released in a documentary style. The wedding would be a galaxy of stars as it is expected to be attended by several celebrities including Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith, Suriya, Karthi, Vijay Sethupathi, Rana Dagubatti, and several others.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have been together for a few years now and last August, Nayanthara has divulged that she had gotten engaged to Shivan. The couple first worked in the film 'Naanum Rowdy Dhaan' in 2015. Recently, Vignesh Shivan has directed the movie 'Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhala' starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi for the second time.
On the work front, Vignesh Shivan is all set to direct Ajith after the latter's current project which has been tentatively named AK 61. Nayanthara is awaiting the release of the movie 'O2' in which she had acted as the mother of an eight-year-old son. The trailer was released recently and the movie will be released on June 17 directly on Disney+ Hotstar. She will be acting in Atlee's upcoming Bollywood film 'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan.
