Lady superstar Nayanthara has taken everyone into surprise by revealing that she has got engaged to her beau Vignesh Shivan. Her admission has come when the star couple was flooded with anticipations over their wedding and with the confirmation that they have got engaged, it is expected that they will tie the knot soon, marking yet another royal wedding of the Indian cinema industry. 

Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan have been in a relationship for six years now and their relationship has been apparent with Vignesh Shivan posting pictures on social media with his ladylove. From temples to tourist destinations, the couple gripped up their relationship in the midst of staying off from the limelight when it was showered upon them over their wedding. The couple had even visited Nayanthara's hometown in Kerala and flown on chartered flights to celebrate important festivals. 

But, when it comes to their wedding, a secret was their answer. Some of the reports had claimed that they had already got married. However, they strongly denied such reports as rumours and on the other hand, they also had spent time in their respective areas of work and Nayanthara had risen to more fame through acting in women-centric movies in the past five years and the couple had also started a production company - Rowdy Pictures. While no updates about their marriage, Vignesh Shivan took the internet into the storm by dropping a photo earlier this March. 

The photo had shown Nayanthara resting her left hand on Vignesh Shivan's chest with a ring on her finger. It had gone viral on social media with the strong speculations that the couple had got engaged. However, Vignesh Shivan's post didn't directly reveal their engagement. Now, after months of speculations over the ring, Nayanthara has confirmed that it is an engagement ring and took everyone into surprise over her unanticipated confession. She was seen admitting about the engagement in a promo video of an interview to a Tamil channel while promoting her movie 'Netrikann'. When the host asked about the ring, Nayanthara has revealed, "This is an engagement ring." 

The promo video was released on Tuesday as a teaser to the talk show and the video has been going viral after Nayanthara shared that she has got engaged to her beau Vignesh Shivan. The couple fell in love while working together for the 2015 film 'Naanum Rowdydhaan' in which Vijay Sethupathi played the lead role. Back in 2019, Nayanthara had openly addressed Vignesh Shivan as her fiance at an event, however, the couple denied to comment on their wedding plans. With her latest revelation, it is obvious that the couple is moving closer for an affable wedding and an announcement regarding the same may come soon from one of the most celebrated couples of the cinema industry. 

On the work front, Nayanthara's next 'Netrikann' is slated for release on Disney+Hotstar on August 13. The movie is produced by Vignesh Shivan under the couple's own banner Rowdy Pictures and is directed by Milind Rau. In what is predicted to be a thriller film, actors Ajmal Ameer, Manikandan Achari, and Sharan Shakti will also be playing important roles while Girishh Gopalakrishnan has composed the music and the movie is all set to be released in four different languages. Ever since Nayanthara confirmed that she has got engaged, hundreds of Tweeple and social media users have been sharing their wishes for the couple.
