As legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam has been on his final journey by leaving his fans and people whom he touched with profound pain, thousands have been paying their tribute and last respect to the departed singer as he has been buried at his farmhouse in Thamaraipakkam near to Redhills in the outskirts of Chennai. 

The phenomenal singer has passed away on Friday at the age of 74 in Chennai due to cardiac arrest. He was tested positive for the COVID-19 viral infection on August 5 and he was admitted at MGM Hospital in Chennai. On September 7, he won the fight against the pandemic after testing negative and amid the valiant battle for survival for around 50 days, he has breathed his last. Following his sudden demise, national leaders and celebrities have been paying their condolences through in-person and social media. 

He died at 1.04 pm on Friday following which his body was taken to his home in Nungambakkam, Chennai, and kept for the public to pay their homage. Thousands of fans and people had gathered at his home and paid their tributes. 

Visuals had shown a long queue before his residence which had exemplified how much love he had earned in his lifetime. The singer's family had decided to bury the mortal remains at his farmhouse in Thamaraippakam. 

On Saturday, his body was taken to the farmhouse for the last rites amid the flood of people. Hundreds of police officers were deployed to regulate the crowds as there were a large number of people and celebrities gathered at the farmhouse and paid their last respects. While most of the celebrities had paid condolences and remembered the legendary singer through social media amid the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, some of the top celebrities had gone directly to the farmhouse and paid their last respects.

Reputed faces like director Bharathiraja, who was the close friend of the deceased singer nearly for five decades, actor Arjun, and singer Mano went to the farmhouse and paid their last respects. In line with them, Actor Vijay has arrived at the farmhouse and placed his condolences for the family members of the singer. Visuals of actor Vijay at the burial site have been rampantly spreading across social media. Vijay was seen talking to SPB's son SP Charan and paid his last respect ahead of the last rites.
