In what has become a piece of ravishing news for the ardent Vijay fans, the actor's next project that has been tentatively named Thalapathy 66 has now got the official title. Helmed by Tollywood director Vamshi Paidapally, the movie is prepared for a theatrical release during Pongal 2023.
As per the announcement, Thalapathy 66 has been titled 'Varisu' (Heir). The movie team made the announcement on Tuesday as Vijay's birthday treat to his fans. The actor is celebrating his 48th birthday on Wednesday - June 22 and the first look poster from Varisu, in which Vijay sported an elegant look, goes viral from across and beyond the borders.
The poster carries the caption "The Boss Returns" adds good power to the poster and Vijay has also shared the first-look poster on his Twitter. The poster has been getting shared rampantly on social media. The movie is being made as an action drama and it is the first time Vijay has teamed up with the Tollywood makers. The principal photography began in April 2022 in Chennai.
The first schedule of the movie took place on a specially erected set in a film city in Chennai. Initially, 75% of the shoot was planned to take place in Hyderabad. However, Vijay has requested the production to remain in Chennai to benefit the local movie workers. Some of the portions in the movie were shot in Hyderabad from May 3 to May 23 this year.
While Varisu is helmed by Vamshi Paidapally, the movie is bankrolled by Dil Raju under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. While Vijay plays the lead role, Rashmika Mandanna, Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Sarathkumar, Shaam, Yogi Babu, Jayasudha, Srikanth, Khushbu, and Sangeetha Krish play important roles. Taman has composed the music and KL Praveen and Karthik Palani have done editing and cinematography respectively.
