The first phase of the shooting was held in Georgia and the progress for further shooting was paused in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and restrictions.

The fans have been expecting when the shooting will be resumed and when the movie will hit the big screens. The movie team was carrying out the works to release the first poster of the movie and unveil the movie's name.
Amid speculations, the movie team had released the posters of the movie during Vijay's birthday on June 22 and the movie has been named as 'Beast'. The fans had celebrated the announcement of the movie name and release of the posters and they had rampantly shared the posters on social media and expressed their wishes to the movie team.
With the release of the movie name and posters, the fans had various expectations over when the shooting will resume. Days after the release of the movie name, the team has now decided to resume the shooting. According to reports close to the developments, the shooting will begin in the first week of July and it will then progress towards completion. Beast is produced by Kalanathi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures and it will be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. While Vijay plays the lead role, Pooja Hegde will be playing the female lead. Through 'Beast', Hegde is coming back to Kollywood after eight years. Anirudh is composing the music and Yogi Babu, Tom Chacko, VTV Ganesh, and Aparna Das will be playing the important roles.
