Although the state government of Tamil Nadu has been steering its mechanisms to curb the spread of the Coronavirus, there have been drifts and aberrant developments within the state health department for the past few days that had come to the spotlight after the sudden disappearance of State Health Minister Vijayabaskar, who earlier held the responsibility of addressing the reporters and leading the task force in the state to contain the spread of the pandemic.

Vijayabaskar was putting out the developments of the outbreak in the state through his Twitter handle and now he went on to the silent mode from divulging the developments so does his Twitter, rather it wings the awareness posters on preventing from the virus. Tamil Nadu Health Secretary Beela Rajesh has taken up the responsibility of addressing the reporters concerning the pandemic and since then, she has been briefing the state daily on the total number of cases affected by the virus whereas Vijayabaskar stays with reviewing the measures at the hospitals and he mostly resides with his family in Pudukottai.

Our sources say that Vijayabaskar had been active and taking stock of the situation in the state to contain the spread and his on-ground presence along with the frontline workers put him on the limelight in the state as the social media platforms had highlighted and complimented his work and measures to combat the virus which in turn disturbed some of the senior ministers in the state including Chief Minister Edappadi Palaniswami.

Following this, his responsibilities were levied on the Health Secretary. However, Vijayabaskar has been carrying out the inspections in the hospitals to review the preparedness. Our sources stated that Vijayabaskar has the support of 25 MLAs behind him which prompts him to carry out his duties despite the responsibilities were reduced. Beela Rajesh has been connecting the state health department with the Union Ministry of Health and she has regularly been updating the Central Ministry over the latest developments. 

According to our sources, Edappadi Palaniswami is more concerned to make sure that no one stands against him in the party. One of the ministers Rajendra Balaji has been keeping his support low to the Chief Minister after Balaji was removed from the party post and now Health Minister Vijayabaskar has also been preparing to show his stronghold in the party. Edappadi Palaniswami strongly suspects that his rival TTV Dhinakaran has been acting behind these two state ministers inciting them to act against the Chief Minister and the latest political developments imply how EPS has been affected by the faction virus amid the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
