As the ardent fans of Thalapathy Vijay are eagerly waiting to celebrate 'Master' Pongal with the release is just days away after the incessant delay of over eight months, the reports close to the developments say that the ticket bookings for the movie are expected to begin from January 7, a week ahead of the Pongal holidays.
On Thursday, Master's producer XB Film Creators said that the movie has been awarded a U/A certificate. With no official announcement, the reports said that the makers had decided to release the movie on January 13. In what has become a significant development, 'Master' would be one of the crucial Tamil movies to get released on the big screens and the release has been expected to give a potential breakthrough to the theaters as they seek the revival from the lockdown.
The official announcement concerning the release is expected to be unveiled soon and the latest reports say that the ticket bookings for 'Master' will begin from January 7. As the fans are yearning to watch the actor on the big screens after one and a half years, a few theaters had already started the bookings for Master with the strong hope that the movie will bring back the audience to the theaters.
The movie has become the most delayed one for Vijay in recent times. While it was slated for release in April, the release met with an unprecedented delay due to the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak and the lockdown triggered by the pandemic. The songs were released in March while the teaser was released on Diwali and the teaser has earned massive reception. The teaser had become the most-viewed teaser on Youtube in India.
While the teaser was released on Diwali, it has been expected that the trailer will be out on New Year as Vijay's gift to his fans and the movie would be released during Pongal. There had been heated debates and speculations that 'Master' is getting released on the OTT platforms due to the lack of the complete resumption of the theaters. However, the makers had many times asserted that they preferred the theatrical release and cleared the clouds that OTT release is not possible.
Master is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and while Vijay plays the lead role, Malavika Mohanan plays as a female lead and the movie has roped in Vijay Sethupathi, Andrea Jeremiah, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Arjun Das, and Gauri Kishan in the important roles. Anirudh has composed the music and the movie is the first project for Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj. Sathyan Sooryan would be working on cameras and Philomin Raj has been inducted as the editor.
Following 'Master', Vijay would be directed by Nelson Dilipkumar for the movie that is temporarily titled Thalapathy 65. The movie would be produced by Sun Pictures and the rest of the crew is yet to be announced. It has been expected that the movie shooting will be commenced in the early next year and will be slated for release during next Diwali.
