The fans are eagerly waiting for his next film, Thalapathy 68, which is expected to be a mass entertainer with a strong social message. But what about his future projects? Well, there is a big buzz in Kollywood that Vijay might team up with one of the most acclaimed directors in Tamil cinema, Vetrimaaran, for his 69th film.
Vetrimaaran, who has won four National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards, is known for his realistic and hard-hitting films such as Polladhavan, Aadukalam, Visaranai, and Asuran. He has also confirmed that he had narrated a story idea to Vijay and that he is ready to direct him whenever he gives the green signal.
According to insider information, Vijay is reportedly toying with the idea of venturing into the political film genre. Apparently, he is keen on teaming up with the brilliant filmmaker Vetrimaaran, who is renowned for producing thought-provoking movies that delve into the complexities of society.
It's exciting to see what kind of cinematic masterpiece these two creative geniuses will come up with. If this buzz turns out to be true, then the fans can expect a powerful and impactful film from the duo. However, nothing has been officially announced yet and the project is still in the discussion stage.
Vijay is currently busy with the shooting of Thalapathy 68, which is directed by Venkat Prabhu. And he is lastly seen at Los Angeles, presumably for the audio launch event of Jawan, directed by Atlee. But many reports have that the actor met the Viduthalai director.
Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran is working on his next film, Vaadi Vaasal, which is based on the novel of the same name by C.S. Chellappa. The film stars Suriya in the lead role and revolves around the ancient sport of Jallikattu. The film is produced by Kalaipuli S. Thanu and has music by G.V. Prakash Kumar. The film is expected to hit the screens in late 2023 or early 2024.
