Viduthalai Part 1 : Vetrimaaran’s masterpiece to soon make its OTT debut and this is how the film will be presented

Viduthalai, the highly anticipated film by acclaimed director Vetrimaaran, hit the theatres on March 31 and received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The film, which stars Soori, Bhavani Sre and Vijay Sethupathi in pivotal roles, is a gripping tale of oppression and liberation set in the backdrop of Tamil Nadu’s forests. The film is also releasing in Telugu as Vidudala on April 15, with high expectations from the fans of Vetrimaaran.

But the theatrical version of Viduthalai is not the final one, as revealed by associate director Jagadeesa Pandiyan in a recent interview with Galatta media portal. He said that the film underwent 200 edits before it was released on the big screen, and that Vetrimaaran is still working on improving it for the OTT release. 

He said, "Vetri sir himself has said that he can make this film better if he had three more days. The film you've watched is the 200th version. I'm not trying to exaggerate, but the film has been edited to that extent," "He has begun work on the OTT release and it will be a different version of the film. When I say it will be a different version, the film will be the same and there will be additions.

He creates the film on the editing table." he added. He said that even though there was a finalised script, Vetrimaaran kept them on their toes till he was satisfied with the outcome. He also said that Vetrimaaran’s choice of scenes and shots was always spot on and enhanced the impact of the film.

As per ' reports, the periodic thriller soon to be out on digital streaming platform, probably at the end of this month on Zee5. Viduthalai is based on a short story by writer Jeyamohan, and has music by Ilaiyaraaja and cinematography by Velraj. The film is produced by Elred Kumar under RS Infotainment banner and presented by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant MoviesThe film has music by Ilaiyaraaja, which was hailed for its impactful score that solely contributed to the film's gripping tale.
