The makers of ‘Maamannan’, the upcoming film by Mari Selvaraj, have released the first single from the film today. The song, called ‘Raasa Kannu’, is a moving melody sung by the iconic comedian Vadivelu, who also essays a key role in the film. The song is composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman and written by Yugabharathi.
The lyrical video of ‘Raasa Kannu’ showcases the behind-the-scenes footage of Vadivelu, Rahman, Yugabharathi and Mari Selvaraj in the recording studio, as well as some glimpses from the film. The song’s lyrics touch upon the discrimination and poverty faced by the oppressed communities in the region. The song also features the voice of Sreekanth Hariharan as a backing vocalist.
‘Raasa Kannu’ marks Vadivelu’s first ever single in his career with Rahman. He made his singing debut with ‘Ettanaa Irundha’ from ‘Ellame En Rasathan’. Now the released song has received rave reviews from the fans and critics alike, who praised Vadivelu’s soulful rendition and Rahman’s musical brilliance.
‘Maamannan’ stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Keerthy Suresh, Fahadh Faasil and Vadivelu in lead roles. The film is produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Movies and is slated to release in June 2023. The film is expected to be a hard-hitting commentary on the political scenario of Tamil Nadu.
