Chief Co-ordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi and one of the Tamil Nadu politicians Seeman has been booked under sedition, reports say.
The Sedition case has been filed by the police department in Kuniyamuthur, Coimbatore district on Saturday based on the complaint lodged against the leader of the Tamil outfit for what he had spoken in the anti-CAA rally that was held on February 22nd.
The police department alleged that Seeman's address had instigated hatred and violence between two communities and it was against the government.
Kuniyamuthur police department has booked Seeman under the grounds of sedition and three other sections including 153a of Indian Penal Code- promoting disharmony and enmity between different groups, for stimulating hostility. According to the reports, Seeman took part in the anti-CAA rally organized by the Islamic group on February 22nd.
During the rally, he criticized the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and lashed out the Center for rolling out what has become the controversial act that erupted severe protests across the nation.
