Its official that the results were announced for the by-elections of two legislative constituencies in Tamil Nadu which had bestowed with the compilation of tale with the play of victories, twists and defeats for the political parties by seemingly picturing the current trend of the politics in Tamil Nadu.
Since it was termed as the last by-elections in the tenure of current assembly, the political parties had hit the campaign trail as the victories from these by-elections would have a potential impact on registering victories in 2021 state legislative elections as the state's top political parties have been eyeing to sweep the seats. The constituencies of Vikkravandi and Nanguneri were under the hands of tough and heated campaign trails that were unleashed by top parties in support for the alliance and for the respective candidates for over a month.
On October 21st 2019, the eligible voters of both the constituencies queued up to choose the deserved representative where Nanguneri had recorded with 66.35% voter turnout while Vikkravandi had seen about 84.36% of people had registered their votes and amidst having 35 candidates on board in both the constituencies, the main and fierce fight was between the state's ruling party ADMK and the opposition party DMK who reached out to every corner of the constituencies along with the allied party leaders who hoped to fish about 2.23 lakh votes and 2.57 lakh votes in Nanguneri and Vikkravandi respectively.
After the polling stations had wrapped up, the results were scheduled to announce on October 24th, 2019 where the counting was started on Thursday and since the first round of the counting, the ruling party was leading in both the constituencies with steady margin and after the numbers have portrayed that the ruling party would possibly blow up the opposition parties, the party men and cadres of ADMK party had started their celebrations in party's headquarters in Chennai and the margin had increased strongly in favor of the ruling party by lowering the policies and politics of the opposition party where it was later declared that ADMK's candidate Narayanan had won Nanguneri constituency with huge margin of 32,333 votes whereas in Vikkravandi, ADMK's Muthamizh Selvan had swept the victory with tremendous margin of 44,782 votes.
While Vikkravandi had seen series of storming tides between the ruling and the opposition, Nanguneri constituency had witnessed the rise of independent candidate who was on the limelight of coverage as equal to the top political parties where Raja Narayanan of Naam Tamilar Katchi was trailed to the fourth place after the votes of independent candidate Hari Nadar had overruled to the third spot after ADMK and DMK. Hari Nadar had secured 4,242 votes than Raja Narayan who got 3,488 votes that had tuned in unexpected twist as its less likely that the independent candidates will overrun the candidates of registered political parties.
On the other side of the aisle, these victories had presented huge debacles and breakdown for the opposition party DMK and its alliance that would see the numbers of legislators in ruling party will go high in the legislative assembly that won't be quaked till its full tenure which ends by 2021 and also revealed that Seeman's Naam Tamilar Katchi which had toured the constituencies with the hope of joining the tough fight, was indeed left with major setbacks.
While commenting about the victory, the state Chief minister Edappadi Palaniswami had said that the party had attained the victories due to the hard work of the party men and for the true governance of the party and thanked the leaders of the allied parties for their campaigns. After the defeat, the DMK president M K Stalin had said that he bow down and accept the decision of the people and further stated that the party will figure out the reason for the loss and the party will work upon to acquire the hope and belief of the people.
