In a shocking development, a BJP leader in Tamil Nadu has been arrested for sexually harassing his 10-year-old daughter. The police had slapped a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The dreadful incident has invited massive outrage against the jailed leader with the demand of awarding appropriate punishment for the crime. 

According to reports, 47-year-old Bharathi is a BJP leader in Vaniyambadi, Tirupathur district. He has been serving as the party's in charge of the SC wing in the city. Though he has his first wife alive, he got married to three other women illegally and he and his fourth wife have a 10-year-old daughter. It has been reported that Bharathi had sexually harassed his daughter. 

His obnoxious act of harassment continued and his daughter had informed her mother about the sexual torture given by her own father. The girl's mother slammed Bharathi and urged him to leave his daughter. However, Bharathi remained deaf and he threatened his wife to do whatever she can and said he will continue harassing his daughter. 

After witnessing incessant torture for her daughter, 10-year-old's mother had approached the All Women Police Station in Vaniyambadi to lodge a complaint against her husband for harassing her daughter. Shocked to learn about the complaint, the police had launched a probe and interrogated Bharathi during which the accused BJP leader went on to threaten the police officers. Following the investigation, the police had arrested Bharathi and filed a case against him under POCSO Act.
