DMK leader and legislator Udhayanidhi Stalin has warned the Central-ruling BJP that the protests will be organized in Delhi had the centre proceed with its drive of imposing Hindi in the state. He was speaking at a protest organized by DMK's youth and student wings against the recommendations of Union Home Minister Amit Shah-led committee of parliament on official language.
The recommendations include replacement of English with Hindi as the medium of instruction in all technical or non-technical educational institutions of the Union government. The Tamil Nadu ruling DMK has staunchly slammed the recommendations and on Saturday - October 15, the party had held a statewide agitation against the Hindi imposition.
The protests were led by DMK MPs, Ministers, and MLAs. DMK MLA and youth wing secretary Udhayanidhi Stalin led the protests near Valluvar Kottam in Chennai. Speaking at the protest, Udhayanidhi Stalin warned that the protest will not be limited within Tamil Nadu but it would even reach Delhi if the Union government carries out its attempts to impose Hindi in the state.
He said, "The people of Tamil Nadu will never accept the imposition of Hindi language. They will chase away the fascist BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls like in 2019." He further said, "This anti-Hindi agitation is a great start for the Lok Sabha poll campaign." Udhayanidhi Stalin recalled the recent protests in West Bengal where the protesters hold the photos of Dravidian leaders CN Annadurai, M Karunanidhi, and Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Udhayanidhi said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah should not consider the DMK government as that of the previous ADMK government. By citing that MK Stalin is neither Edappadi Palaniswami nor O Panneerselvam, the DMK MLA stated, "We only protested today. It is up to you to turn it into a struggle or not", and warned that protests will be held in front of Modi's and Amit Shah's offices in Delhi.
