The accused was charged for a financial fraud and the suspended woman cop had been giving the tip-offs to him about the next movements of police in his case. 

The horrific incident happened during the late night hours of Thursday and the deceased was identified as Adityan, who was serving as the PMK's deputy secretary in Villupuram.

Police said Adityan had left his house on Thursday night and when he didn't return home, his family members lodged a complaint with the Vikravandi police. 

A case has been registered against him under several sections as his game for gaining publicity got busted. 

The development has displayed the prevalence of growing financial menaces, in line with the fake loan apps, and alarmed the general public before pursuing such institutions. 

While the police arrested Krishnamurthy on Monday, his wife Vimala is on the run and officials are on the lookout to arrest the DMK councillor. 

On Wednesday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin held a high-level meeting in Chennai during which he reviewed the developments around the situation and the law and order in the state.

The incident has sparked a fury across the state and become a talking point for the opposition over the law and order in the state.

The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch- Crime Investigative Department (CBCID) as per the order from Tamil Nadu DGP Sylendra Babu.

The grim incident has happened under a broad daylight on Thursday - October 13 where 20-year-old Sathya Priya was killed after being pushed by Sathish in front of a train.
