Horror in Tamil Nadu: A PMK leader is brutally murdered...Police arrest two assailants!

Tensions grow across and beyond the Villupuram district of Tamil Nadu after a leader of Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) was brutally murdered. The horrific incident happened during the late night hours of Thursday and after learning about the death, several PMK cadres began hurling stones at buses to show their resentment and the vulnerable areas were brought under tight security grid. 

According to reports, the deceased was identified as Adityan, who was serving as the PMK's deputy secretary in Villupuram. He was found murdered with his throat slit on the roadside at Kappiyampuliyur near Vikkravandi in the Villupuram district. Police said Adityan had left his house on Thursday night and when he didn't return home, his family members lodged a complaint with the Vikravandi police. 

Based on the complaint, the police launched the search and the officials found Adityan dead on the roadside. Senior police officers including Villupuram Superintendent of Police (SP) Shreenatha visited the spot and recovered the body and sent it to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital. The police have formed special teams to nab the assailants. 

According to IANS, the police suspect that a hired gang could have killed Adityan. As Adityan was a popular PMK leader in the district, his death has sparked protests as several angered cadres began throwing stones at the buses. With the view of curbing any untoward incidents, a heavy police personnel were deployed to respond to the protests. 

Four special teams were formed under Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Parthiban to arrest the assailants. The police had intensified the manhunt and as per the preliminary investigation, it has come to light that Adityan had an enmity with his relative and that he could have been killed due to this dispute. Based on the complaint filed by Adityan's wife Shanthi, the Vikravandi police have registered a case under five sections. According to the latest reports, the police have arrested two accused in connection to the murder and further investigations are underway.
