Legendary musician and Rajya Sabha MP Ilaiyaraaja has been drawing flak for not attending even a single day of the recently-held winter session of the Parliament.

Ilaiyaraaja will become Rajya Sabha MP at a high time when India has welcomed Droupadi Murmu as its 15th President.

As the nominees are getting closer to decorating a six-year term in the Upper house, let's take a look at them. 

Ilaiyaraaja's nomination was a bolt from the blue for a sea of people as there haven't been major speculations that the musical icon would get a seat on a towering floor. 

After filing his nomination at the Chief Secretariat for the seat that is confirmed for him, he had unleashed a scathing attack against the centre ruling Modi regime. 

Recently, the DMK has announced its three candidates as it has awarded a seat to its ally, the Congress party as per the deal that was inked during the 2021 assembly polls.

Based on the current strength in the assembly, DMK can win four seats while the ADMK can grab the rest two seats with the support of its allied parties like BJP and PMK.  

Tamil Nadu's Opposition party ADMK, which has already been frailing over the leadership crisis and back to back electoral defeats, is witnessing a dispute between the top two leaders.

The two other DMK members - TKS Elangovan and RS Bharathi won't be given another term and to replace them, MK Stalin has named two new candidates.
