The horrific incident happened during the late night hours of Thursday and the deceased was identified as Adityan, who was serving as the PMK's deputy secretary in Villupuram.

Police said Adityan had left his house on Thursday night and when he didn't return home, his family members lodged a complaint with the Vikravandi police.

He has been addressing the general body meeting of the district units across the state with the aim of reviving the party's base to win the next assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, due in 2026. 

Duraimurugan said that the state government would hold a consultation with legal experts and plan the future move regarding this reservation.
