The Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has filed a complaint to the local police under Sections 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot), and 505 (1) (b) (causing fear or alarm to the public) of the Indian Penal Code, and also the Principal Sessions Court denied his request for anticipatory bail, and police were looking for him.

As his remarks have created unrest, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam has filed a complaint against Kanal Kannan with the Chennai Police Commissioner.

Speaking at the assembly on Monday after declaring Periyar's birthday as the 'Social Justice Day', the Chief Minister said that Thanthai Periyar had fought for social justice till the age of 95.
